The purpose of this one week project was to incorporate my knowledge of a project on kickstarter and it's creators having fully researched its origin. I have considered carefully the market and the social context to which it belongs... cat lovers.
Above is my final Woozy logo design as well as the range of colours the logo comes in. The Woozy is an elegant, strong and multifunctional cat hammock/bed made for every interior and suits every cat, this I have tried to reflect in its logo. You could argue that the logo alone doesn’t reflect cat hammocks, but I think it is unnecessary. Keeping logo design simple, it reaches and relates to every cat owner. It is also fairly unique compared with the other pet brands out there. As the Woozy comes in six different colours, the logo can also be printed in lots of the different colours, this could be incorporated on the packaging that the woozy comes in.
I have chosen Futura as the font on my logo, a geometric sans-serif typeface designed in 1927 by Paul Renner. It is based on geometric shapes that became representative of visual elements this I think reflects the woozy cat hammock.
I wanted to create a logo is fun, lighthearted, and playful which I think I have achieved. Ralf Frickel (the founder) when he chooses materials, he looks for quality, sustainable and natural products, materials with character. Which is why I have designed a relatively fun logo.
If I were to have more time on this project I would experiment more widely with printing and look into the marketing side. If I have time to revisit the project I would print on envelopes and packaging. Overall, I am feeling okay with what I have produced, I think it works. However, I feel if I had decided on my kickstarter project earlier I would have produced a better outcome, but I struggled to decide on a project for the first couple days. I am undecided whether or not to send my logo design to Ralf Frickel as I am not 100% happy with my outcome. Thus I think I will revisit this project as I think it has potential.
